![]() Our Philosophy
At the Uncommon Kitchen we are dedicated to bringing our customers a product made with integrity and presented in a way that respects the customer and the environment. We feel that organic produce is an ever important part of a healthy diet.
It just tastes better, also. The Uncommon Kitchen is committed to using organic produce and dairy and natural meat products whenever possible. When we support organic and responsible farming it sends a message to the
farming community that organic is important to the consumer. There is a need for wholesome ingredients to feed ourselves, our friends and our families.
The same goes for using biodegradable to-go packaging. Landfills are already over flowing with a disposable societies excessive wastes. Let's do what we can to ease the problem. We are fortunate to live in an age when high quality biodegradable packaging is available. Sugarcane fiber (bagasse) and potato or corn starch bioplastics are made from annually renewable resources, as opposed to the petroleum based chemicals that are in plastics and styrofoam. These new packaging resources are even a step above paper disposables because they help preserve our precious forests. They can be tossed right into your compost pile and will biodegrade within 90 days. However, these new options are not the answer to our throw-away/disposable society problems. They are an aid towards achieving environmental sustainability, but we still need to remember to reduce, reuse and recycle. While these new packaging options allow us the convenience of our to-go lifestyles without the pollution and long landfill life of plastic and styrofoam, we need to remember to still honor the Earth. At the Uncommon Kitchen we use biodegradable packaging whenever possible. Tread Lightly, Dawn & Doug |
